A manor in Ito and Shima counties in Chikuzen Province (present-day Itoshima County, Fukuoka Prefecture). It has over 1,450 cho of rice fields. It was the largest manor in the Hokongoin estate of Ninna-ji Temple, at the request of Taikenmon'in Shoshi. It was established around 1131 (Tensho 1). It seems that the manor was established in response to the efforts of Daini Fujiwara no Tsunetada, who was Mon'in's betto, and in response to the calls of provincial governors and local lords. Initially, the Imperial family, the main branch of the family, held control over the manor, and appointed Fujiwara no Yoshimori, a close attendant of Emperor Goshirakawa, as its director. When Emperor Gotoba was kanrei, the Jokyu War broke out, and the manor was confiscated by the shogunate, but was returned the following year. From this time on, the head priest of Ninna-ji Temple began to step back from the manor, and a gusō (attendant priest) was appointed as its director.
