...Another work that incorporates the idea of "two faces" is "Nihonzutsumi Tori no Nesaga" by Hikoshi Jizanji in 1757. In the tokiwazu work "Imosezuka Matsuni Sakura" commonly known as "Two Asamas," the ghost of Seigen in female form appears from inside a brazier, with the ghost of the courtesan Yatsuhashi in the same form. In this style, a quick-change ghost story kyogen is "Neiya no Ogi Sumizome Sakura" by Tsuruya Nanboku in 1810 (Bunka 7).

...In Kabuki, it was early combined with "selling," and was expressed in dance, mainly in Tokiwazu. In 1757 (7th year of the Horeki era), "Imosezuka Matsuzakura" is an old example of two vengeful spirits taking one form, in which the spirit of Seigen, who was killed because he loved Princess Sakura, appears combined with the spirit of Yatsuhashi, who died because he was longing for Soga Juro Sukenari, leading Sukenari astray. In 1762, "Shinobu-gusa Chidori-no-Monpi," the dead soul of a white chrysanthemum becomes a seller and appears before her lover Sukenari....
