Rhodium chloride - rhodium chloride

Rhodium chloride - rhodium chloride
Rhodium(I), (II), and (III) salts are known, but the most important are the rhodium(III) salts.
[Rhodium(III) chloride]
Chemical formula: RhCl 3 . In addition to the anhydrous form, trihydrate and tetrahydrate forms are known, and commercially available rhodium has a composition equivalent to that of the trihydrate. The anhydrous form is a brownish red powder that is insoluble in water and acid and decomposes in an alkaline hydroxide solution. When heated strongly, it is reduced to rhodium, and in the presence of hydrogen, reduction occurs at about 190 °C. The hydrate is a dark red crystal that easily deliquesces and dissolves in water and ethyl alcohol.
