Native to Natal, South Africa. Traditionally, it has been loved as a succulent plant, but in recent years it has often been treated as an ornamental plant. The slender stems that emerge from the underground corm are 2-3 mm in diameter, and when placed in a hanging pot, they hang down for nearly 2 m, and have fleshy, heart-shaped leaves, 1-2 cm long, growing in pairs every 4-5 cm.
