...It is an evergreen, vine-like perennial plant of the Asclepiadaceae family, and has many English names, including rosary vine, string of hearts, and heart vine (illustration). Native to Natal, South Africa. Traditionally, it has been loved as a succulent plant, but in recent years it has often been treated as an ornamental plant. The slender stems that emerge from the underground corm are 2-3 mm in diameter, and when placed in a hanging pot, they hang down for nearly 2 m, and have fleshy, heart-shaped leaves, 1-2 cm long, growing in pairs every 4-5 cm. The upper surface of the leaves is dark gray-green with silvery-white patterns, and the underside is a beautiful pale dark purple-pink color. ...
