Eris (English spelling)

It is a celestial body in the solar system that orbits the Sun outside the orbits of Neptune and Pluto. It is classified as a dwarf planet. It was discovered in 2005 at the Mount Palomar Observatory in California, USA, from images taken in 2003. Its provisional designation before the name Eris was officially decided was 2003 UB _313. It was called "Xena" by its discoverers and was also called "the 10th planet". Its diameter is about 2500 km, a little larger than Pluto. It orbits the Sun every 560 years, and its orbit is highly elliptical. Its spectrum suggests that its surface is covered with white methane ice. It also has at least one moon. The moon, called Dysnomia, is one-eighth the size of Eris and has an orbital period of about two weeks. Eris and Pluto were included in the dwarf planets, a new category of celestial bodies orbiting the Sun, defined by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in August 2006. In June 2008, the IAU classified Eris, Pluto, and other dwarf planets beyond Neptune as "plutoids."

He studied medicine in London, but turned to writing about literature and science, and published research on sexual desire, genius, crime, dreams, and marriage based on a wide range of sources. He was a leading authority on sexual psychology. His major works include The Criminal (1890), Study of British Genius (1904), The World of Dreams (11), and Studies in the Psychology of Sex (7 volumes, 1897-1928).

A system to intercept reentry vehicles from the atmosphere. A ground-launched anti-ballistic missile missile developed under the SDI program. Its purpose is to destroy nuclear warheads outside the atmosphere. It approaches an orbiting mirror satellite, guided by a laser emitted from a ground station, captures the target with its built-in sensor, and destroys it by direct collision using homing guidance. A successful test was conducted in 1992 over the Pacific Ocean, targeting a Minuteman I missile. However, with the recent easing of tensions between the United States and Russia, the importance of interceptor systems for strategic nuclear missiles such as ICBMs and SLCMs has decreased, and development is expected to be discontinued.

Greek goddess of strife. She was the daughter of the night goddess Nyx, and is said to have given birth to many evils, including toil (Ponos), hunger (Limos), battle (Make), and murder (Phonos). The Trojan War was started by Eris, who threw a golden apple with the inscription "To the fairest goddess" into the feast of the gods celebrating the marriage of Peleus and Thetis, in revenge for not being invited to the feast.

Elea

An ancient Greek city-state in the northwestern Peloponnese, now Ilia. Known for horse breeding and for the Olympic Games, which were hosted by the Elians from 776 BC. The city of Elis unified the region by 572 BC, and although it was sometimes allied with or opposed to Sparta, it generally maintained its neutrality and independence as the host of the Olympic Games.
