…The unfinished Perceval was immediately followed by the so-called First and Second Sequels (both unknown authors) and the Third Sequel by Mannemier, which finally completed the story, and then Gerbert de Montreuil's Sequel to Perceval (c. 1250) was inserted between the Second and Third Sequels. On the other hand, Robert de Boron's The Story of the Origin of the Holy Grail (before 1200) first tells the story of how the Holy Grail (Saint Graal) was brought to the West as a symbol of the Gospel, and how it was used in the Last Supper to catch the blood of Christ on the cross. In the 13th century, prose writing produced such unique masterpieces as The Quest for the Holy Grail, a masterpiece from the pentalogy of Lancelot's Prose, and Perlesborg, a separate series. The search for the wondrous object known as the Holy Grail not only became the greatest task for King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table, but has remained a symbol and metaphor for the pursuit of the supreme and absolute values ​​to this day.
