Diastase

A starch-degrading enzyme preparation, the Japanese Pharmacopoeia name for amylase. Made from malt, it contains α (alpha)-amylase and β (beta)-amylase, and breaks down starch into maltose and dextrin. It is widely used as a digestive enzyme preparation, and is used in combination with antacids such as stomach powder and sodium bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) for indigestion and loss of appetite. Takamine Jokichi's "Takadiastase" is extracted from rice koji fungus, and contains proteolytic enzymes in addition to amylase. Diastase preparations include sodium bicarbonate diastase powder, compound sodium bicarbonate diastase powder, and compound scourgette extract diastase powder.

デンプン分解酵素剤で、アミラーゼの日本薬局方名。麦芽から製したもので、α(アルファ)-アミラーゼ、β(ベータ)-アミラーゼを含み、デンプンを分解してマルトースとデキストリンにする。消化酵素剤として繁用されており、消化不良、食欲不振に健胃散や炭酸水素ナトリウム（重曹）などの制酸剤と配合して用いられる。高峰譲吉の創製した「タカジアスターゼ」は米麹(こめこうじ)菌から抽出されたもので、アミラーゼのほかにタンパク分解酵素をも含む。ジアスターゼの製剤には、ジアスターゼ重曹散、複方ジアスターゼ重曹散、複方ロートエキス・ジアスターゼ散などがある。
