Shingo [town] - Shingo
A former town in Atetsu District, northwest Okayama Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, part of the Chugoku Mountains, and borders Tottori and Hiroshima prefectures. The Geibi Line and Hakubi Line run through the town. In the past, it was a place where high-quality iron sand was collected, and the Kama area was the center of tatara ironworks. Agriculture and forestry are the main industries, but cattle breeding is also thriving. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Niimi City along with Osa Town, Tetta Town, and Tetsunishi Town in Atetsu District. 136.37 km2 . 2,619 people (2003).
