Born: August 10, 1645, Seguin, Tyrol [Died] March 15, 1711. Italian-born Jesuit. Pioneer and explorer of northern Mexico and the American Southwest. Educated in Germany, he joined the Society of Jesus in 1665. After arriving in Mexico as a missionary in 1681, he established missions in various places and worked to educate the indigenous people and develop the region.
