Bergman, Hjalmar Fredrik Elgérus
Born: November 19, 1883 in Örebro
[Died] January 1, 1931, Berlin Swedish novelist and playwright. Born into a wealthy banker's family, he studied at Uppsala University for a year from 1900, after which he spent most of his life abroad, especially in Florence. He also worked as a film director in Hollywood, USA. His representative works include the novels Markurells i Wadköping (1919), Farmor och Vår Herre (21), and the comedy Swedenhielms (25).

[died] July 8, 1784. Swedish chemist and mineralogist. He studied under taxonomist C. Linnaeus, and became assistant professor of mathematics at the University of Uppsala (1761), and six years later professor of chemistry. He created tables of chemical affinities of substances, a concept that had considerable influence until the beginning of the 19th century. He is also known for his work on minerals, especially nickel, and on the rainbow, the aurora, and pyroelectricity.
