Balarama (English spelling)

According to the later developed Krishna legend, Vishnu was born as Krishna, the son of Vasudeva of the Yadava clan and his wife Devaki, in order to punish the demons who appeared on earth in the form of a tyrannical king. Fearing persecution by Devaki's brother Kamsa, Krishna was brought up by Nanda, the chief of a cowherd village, and his wife Yashoda along with his brother Balarama, but from his childhood he performed miracles, killing many demons, and finally killed the evil king Kamsa. The hero Krishna was also the object of admiration of the gopikas.
