…The carpus and metacarpus are clearly distinct in the skeleton, but externally they are continuous and there is no boundary between them. Together they form a slightly concave dish, and the concave surface (front) is called the palm, and the convex surface is called the back of the hand or the back of the hand. There are five fingers, which are called, from the radial side to the ulnar side, in order: first finger, thumb, second finger, index finger, third finger, middle finger, fourth finger, ring finger, fifth finger, little finger.
