Etching (IC)

[The emergence of bipolar planar ICs]
The biggest problem in constructing circuits on the same semiconductor substrate is electrically isolating each circuit element that constitutes the circuit. The above-mentioned Texas Instruments IC used mesa etching for this element isolation. It can be said that the true era of ICs began with the development of planar technology.
