...The original form of the rakugo story Dokan, which is still known today, was created in Otoshibanashi Warau Hayashi (written by Hayashiya Shozo I) published in 1833 (Tenpo 4) by parodying this story. In kabuki, Utano Toku Megumi no Yamabuki (written by Kawatake Mokuami) premiered at the Shintomiza Theater in Tokyo in March 1887, and dramatized this oral tradition. The story features a low-class woman, Omura, who is Nadeshiko, the daughter of the Toshima family, who was destroyed by Dokan, and who attacks her father's enemy and Dokan.
