Ena [city] - Ena

Japanese: 恵那[市] - えな

A city in the southeastern part of Gifu Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. It is located in the Mino-Mikawa Plateau in the middle reaches of the Kiso River, and the town developed in Oimachi, which was a post town on the Nakasendo road, and Nagashimacho to the west. The Chuo Expressway passes through the city at the junction of the Chuo Main Line and the Akechi Railway, and in addition to the paper and pulp industries, general machinery and non-ferrous metals industries have also grown since the 1960s. Konjac and agar are local specialties. Ena Gorge and Kinryu Onsen are located here. In October 2004, the town of Iwamura, Yamaoka, Akechi, Kamiyahagi, and Kushihara in Ena County were incorporated. Area: 504.24 ^km2 . Population: 53,718 (2010).

岐阜県南東部の市。1954年市制。木曾川中流の美濃三河高原中にあり，中山道の宿場町であった大井町とその西の長島(おさしま)町に市街が発達。中央本線と明知(あけち)鉄道の分岐点で中央自動車道が通じ，製紙・パルプ工業のほか1960年代から一般機器，非鉄金属などの工業も成長している。コンニャク，寒天を特産。恵那峡，金竜温泉がある。2004年10月恵那郡岩村町，山岡町，明智町，上矢作町，串原村を編入。504.24km²。５万3718人（2010）。
