An ophthalmologist born in Iraq and moved to Egypt, he is known as a unique scriptwriter for shadow puppetry. Scripts remaining include "Shadows of the Imagination," "Azeeb and Ghalib," and "The Enchanted One," all of which are comical works backed by sharp observations of reality. The drama unfolding within a solid plot sharply satirizes the society of the time, and he is highly regarded as a pioneer of the Arab comedy tradition that continues to this day. [Kuroda Juro]
