Baal Shamin (English spelling)

Baal was originally a god of thunder and war, but later, under the influence of Babylonian religion, he became the supreme cosmic god (heavenly god, solar god) and took on a monotheistic character. A typical example is the Palmyran cult of Baal Shamin. Atargatis is famous as the mother goddess of the earth.
