Organic conductor

Among organic compounds and organic complexes that have electrical conductivity, organic conductors are those that have particularly high electrical conductivity. Therefore, there are those that have semiconductor properties (their electrical conductivity increases with increasing temperature) and those that have metallic properties (their electrical conductivity increases with decreasing temperature). The manifestation of electrical conductivity is based on charge transfer. In 1954, research on organic conductors began when a charge transfer complex with perylene, a polycyclic aromatic compound, as the electron donor and the halogens bromine or iodine as the electron acceptors demonstrated an electrical conductivity of 8 Ω cm.

電気伝導性をもつ有機化合物および有機錯体のうち，とくに電気伝導度の高い物質。したがって，その電気伝導度特性が，半導体特性をもつもの(温度の上昇とともに電気伝導度が増加するもの)と，金属的特性をもつもの(温度の降下とともに電気伝導度が増加するもの)とがある。その電気伝導度の発現は電荷移動に基づく。1954年，多環芳香族化合物の一つであるペリレンを電子供与体とし，ハロゲンである臭素，またはヨウ素を電子受容体とした電荷移動錯体が8Ωcmという電気伝導性を示したことによって，有機導体の研究が開始された。
