…It was founded during the Daming period (457-464) of the Southern Song Dynasty and was called Daming Temple, but was later renamed Hojo Temple. Before crossing the sea, Ganjin was the chief priest of this temple, and within the temple grounds are the Tenno-den and Daibutsu-den halls, which were restored during the Qing Dynasty, as well as the Ganjin Memorial Hall, built in the Tang Dynasty style in 1963 to commemorate the 1,200th anniversary of the passing of the monk Ganjin, modeled after the Kondo of Toshodaiji Temple. In April 1980, to commemorate the return of the Ganjin statue to its hometown, the temple was restored to its original name of when Ganjin lived there, Daming Temple. …
