Also written as Kotenraku. The name of a piece from the Tang Dynasty of Gagaku. The dance has not been passed down, and it is only performed as an orchestral piece. It is performed in three different tunings: Banshikicho, Oushikicho, and Hyojo. The Banshikicho is thought to be the original, but the Hyojo version is the most famous. 越天楽とも記す。雅楽の唐楽の曲名。舞は伝わらず管弦としてのみ演奏される。盤渉調(ばんしきちょう),黄鐘調(おうしきちょう),平調(ひょうぢょう)の3通りの調子で演奏され,盤渉調のものが原曲と考えられるが,平調のものが最も有名。残楽(のこりがく)の形でも演奏される。
