Japanese: 出雲国造神賀詞 - いずものくにのみやつこのかむよごと

When a new Izumo kuni no miyatsuko is appointed, he or she will purify themselves for one year by worshiping the gods of Izumo (186 shrines), then go to the Imperial Court to present the words of congratulations for the gods and recite a norito (prayer) at which they pledge allegiance. After this, they will return to Japan and purify themselves for another year. The first section describes the rituals in Izumo, the second section describes the origins of the norito recitation, and the third section describes the offering of sacred treasures and sacrifices, and celebrates the reign of the Emperor. This may date back to the establishment of the Tenmu era. The text is elegant and sophisticated. It is one of the 27 volumes of norito in the Engishiki. [Nishinomiya Kazutami]
