Born April 18, 1945 in Malmo, Sweden. Son of dancer and choreographer B. Cullberg and actor Anders Ek. He initially aspired to be an actor, but after attending the Stockholm Dance School, he joined his mother's dance company, the Kullberg Dance Company, in 1973. Since then, he has been active as a dancer and choreographer, and has attracted attention for his vivid contrast between comedy and tragedy, and his bold and witty choreography. In particular, his work "Giselle," which premiered in Paris in 1982, was set in a psychiatric hospital and presented a new interpretation full of eroticism and humor, which attracted worldwide attention. In 1988, he became the artistic director of the Kullberg Dance Company. Other notable works include "Soweto" (1977), which denounces apartheid in South Africa, "The House of Bernarda Alba" (1978), and "Swan Lake" (1987), which is an interpretation that overlaps Siegfried and Hamlet.
