Abbreviation: EPR. Synthetic rubber copolymerized with ethylene and propylene. Ethylene and propylene copolymer rubber is called EPM, and rubber made into a ternary copolymer by adding a diene monomer as a third component is called EPDM, with the latter being the mainstream at present. EPM and EPDM are often collectively called ethylene-propylene rubber. EPR is obtained by blowing a mixed gas of ethylene and propylene into a hydrocarbon solvent containing a Ziegler catalyst, a combination of vanadium compounds and organoaluminum compounds, to copolymerize them.
