The name of the protagonist in the Travels of Ibrahim Beg (1909), the first Persian novel based on European style, written by Ḥājj Zeyn al‐'Abedin (1837‐1910), an Iranian merchant living in Istanbul, Turkey. The author set the protagonist as the son of a Tabriz merchant living in Egypt, and while setting up a plot in which he returns to his native Iran and travels around the country, he criticizes the outdated autocratic system of the Qajar dynasty and encourages constitutionalism and patriotism.
