Ma Hongkui - Bakouki

Chinese Muslim leader and politician. His courtesy name was Shaoyun. He was born in Gansu Province. As the son of Ma Fuxiang (1876-1932), he and his brother Ma Hongbin (1884-1960) ruled the northwestern region. He graduated from the Gansu Military Academy in 1910, and in 1925 joined the ranks of Feng Yuxiang, whose army was incorporated into the Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army. He served as Governor of Ningxia Province from 1933 to 1948, but when the region came under the control of the People's Liberation Army in 1948, he fled to the United States via Guangdong.

中国のイスラム教徒指導者、政治家。字(あざな)は少雲。甘粛(かんしゅく)省出身。馬福祥（1876―1932）の子として兄の馬鴻賓（1884―1960）とともに西北地区を支配した。1910年甘粛軍官学校卒業、1925年馮玉祥(ふうぎょくしょう)の傘下に入り、その軍隊は国民革命軍第四軍に編入された。1933～1948年、寧夏(ねいか)省主席を務めたが、1948年この地区が人民解放軍下に入ると、広東(カントン)を経てアメリカに亡命した。
