...This four-six sentence is made up of only couplets, two of which are short and four of which are long. The former are called short couples and the latter are called long couples. Short couples are light and airy, long couples are heavy, and heavy long couples are so heavy that two pairs are not used in a row, but one or two pairs of light and airy phrases are always inserted between them.
