Dakusuikei

It is the longest river in Taiwan, flowing west through central Taiwan. It is 170 km long and has a drainage area of ​​3,150 square km. Its northern source is in Hehuan Mountain, and its southern source is in Yushan Mountain, and after joining together they flow west through the center of the island. They branch out into the plains, forming a wide alluvial fan before emptying into the Taiwan Strait. The river has a steep slope, flows fast, and the water is muddy due to the slate upstream. The river basin plain is blessed with irrigation and is known for its double rice crop and wheat production. The Sun Moon Lake hydroelectric power station is located upstream.

台湾中部を西流する、台湾第一の長流。全長170キロメートル、流域面積3150平方キロメートル。北の源流は合歓(ごうかん)山に、南の源流は玉(ぎょく)山に源を発し、合流後、島の中央部を西流する。平野部に出て分流し、広い扇状地を形成して台湾海峡に注ぐ。傾斜が急で流れは速く、水は上流の粘板岩によって濁っている。流域平野は水利に恵まれ水稲の二期作や小麦の産地として知られる。上流に日月潭(じつげつたん)水力発電所がある。
