A performance term in Japanese dance. It can also be written as warimi or akumie, and is also called warumi. It refers to a dance style in which a female character, dogai, or martial artist exaggerates their feminine gestures. Typical examples include Sekibei in "Seki no Tobira" and Jirosaku in "Moriga," where the performer wears a headgear that imitates the hand towel worn by an older woman to emphasize the humor. It is also often seen in genre dances such as "Makasho," "Ukare Bozu," and "Karinsendo," where it plays a role in preventing monotony.
