Huari (Wari) Culture

Japanese: ワリ文化 - わりぶんか（英語表記）Huari (Wari)

This culture was established at the end of the 100-800 AD period when the Mochica, Nazca and Tiahuanaco cultures of Peru and the Bolivian highlands flourished, centering on Huari near Ayacucho in the central highlands of Peru. The Wari complex is spread out over an area of 1.2km x 1.6km on a volcanic plateau. High walls made of piled up rubble run vertically and horizontally, and rectangular buildings and three-story buildings surrounding plazas have been built. A sacred area thought to be a ritual center has a 10m-high trapezoidal platform, an underground building with walls and ceiling made of slabs of cut stone, and an underground waterway network.

ペルーのモチカ，ナスカ，ボリビア高原のティアワナコ各文化の栄えた100‐800年の末期に，ペルー中部高地のアヤクチョ付近のワリHuariを中心として成立した文化。ワリの建造物群は火山性の台地の上に，1.2km×1.6kmの範囲に展開している。粗石を積み上げた高い壁が縦横に走り，長方形の建物や広場を取り囲む3階の建物がつくられ，祭祀センターとみられる神域には高さ10mの台形基壇が置かれ，板状の切石で壁，天井をつくった地下式建物，地下水路網が設けられている。
