Order Pinnipedia, Family Phocidae (illustration). This is the northernmost mammal on Earth. Its name comes from the ring-like color pattern on its body. It is also known as Konkoli (from the Orok language). It is found in the Arctic Circle, as well as Hudson Bay in Canada, Greenland, Labrador, Baffin Island, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, and even the Bering Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk. It is a small seal, with both males and females reaching a body length of 1.5 meters and weighing 90 kg. The closely related Baikal ringed seal is known as the smallest marine mammal in the world.

鰭脚（ききやく）目アザラシ科（イラスト）。地球上，もっとも北に出現する哺乳類。輪紋の名は体色模様のリング斑による。別名はコンコリ(オロッコ語から)。北極圏に分布し，カナダのハドソン湾，グリーンランド，ラブラドル，バフィン島，大西洋や北極海，さらにベーリング海やオホーツク海にも分布する。小型のアザラシで，雄，雌ともに体長1.5m，体重90kgである。近縁のバイカルワモンアザラシは世界最小の海獣類として知られる。
