In 1815, after escaping from the island of Elba and returning to Paris, Napoleon I fought against the allied forces under the command of British leader Wellington at Waterloo in Belgium. This was the last battle of the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon had a chance of victory at one point, but was completely defeated when the Prussian army joined the allied forces.
