Kanetsune Ijuin

Japanese: 伊集院兼常 - いじゅういん かねつね
Kanetsune Ijuin
1836-1909 A businessman from the Meiji period.
Born in 1835. Formerly a samurai of the Satsuma Kagoshima Domain. Joined the Ministry of the Navy and transferred to the Ministry of Public Works' Maintenance Bureau in 1878, where he soon left and worked on the construction of the Rokumeikan. Later he served as president of the Sangu Railway and Dai Nippon Civil Engineering. He passed away on June 20, 1909, at the age of 74.

天保(てんぽう)7年生まれ。もと薩摩(さつま)鹿児島藩士。海軍省にはいり,明治11年工部省営繕局に転じてまもなく退職,鹿鳴館の建築に従事する。のち参宮鉄道,大日本土木の社長をつとめた。明治42年6月20日死去。74歳。
