Born on September 21, 1883. After studying abroad at the Agricultural University of Berlin and other institutions, he became the first director of the Ohara Agricultural Research Institute (later the Ohara Agricultural Research Institute) in 1914. He was known for his research on seed science and crop science, particularly grain storage. He became a member of the Japan Academy in 1946. He passed away on November 7, 1946, aged 64. He was from Okayama Prefecture and graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. His pen name was Ogimura. His works include "Japanese Agricultural and Forestry Seed Science" and "Rice Storage."
