Holy Communion

...Because the liturgy of the sacraments begins through the liturgy of the word, which is read from the Bible, this central part is called the liturgy of the Eucharist. Furthermore, the same word has come to be used for the consecrated bread and wine (especially the bread) in the liturgy, which in Japanese is called the sacrament in the Catholic Church, and in Protestant Churches, the word sacrament is generally used as a translation of Holy Communion, which includes the consecration phrase and communion. The word sacrament can be used ecumenically (from the standpoint of church unity) to refer to the consecrated bread and wine, and the word sacrament can be used to refer to the entire act of Christian communion through it.
