Namikata [town] - Namikata
A former town in Ochi County, occupying the northern tip of the Takanawa Peninsula in northern Ehime Prefecture. Fruit trees such as mandarins and pears are cultivated, and the shipping industry is thriving, with shipbuilding also taking place. A ferry runs between the town and Takehara City in Hiroshima Prefecture, and the Yosan Line runs through the town. Kajitori-no-hana, the cape at the western end, is a scenic spot. In January 2005, it was incorporated into Imabari City along with the villages of Tamagawa, Onishi, Kikuma, Yoshiumi, Miyakubo, Hakata, Kamiura, Omishima, Sekimae, and Asakura in Ochi County. 15.67 km2 . 9,772 people (2003).
