Year of death: 15th February 1645 (12th March 1645) Year of birth: Unknown. A painter from the late Momoyama period and early Edo period. Later he took the name Kano. A native of Dewa Province (Yamagata and Akita prefectures), he served the feudal domain, but went to Kyoto to learn painting from Kano Mitsunobu. In 1605, he painted the screen paintings of Kodaiji Temple with his teacher Mitsunobu and Kano Koi. In his later years, he is believed to have become a patron painter for the Hirado Matsuura Domain (Nagasaki prefecture). His age at death is unknown, but he was buried at Tanedoku-ji Temple in Edo.
