Wagenseil - Georg Christoph Wagenseil

Japanese: ワーゲンザイル - わーげんざいる(英語表記)Georg Christoph Wagenseil
Wagenseil - Georg Christoph Wagenseil

Austrian composer. One of the great masters of the First Viennese School, the precursor of the Classical period. Born in Vienna on January 29, he began composing in his teens. In 1735, he received a scholarship on the recommendation of the court conductor J. J. Fux, studied under him, and was appointed court composer in 1739, a position he held for the rest of his life. From 1741 to 1750, he also served as organist in the court chapel of Empress Dowager Christine. He performed his own operas in Venice and Milan, and in the mid-1750s, many of his works were published by publishers in Paris, bringing him international fame. There is also a famous anecdote about the young Mozart playing Wagenseil's Concerto in front of Empress Maria Theresa in 1762. Around 1765, he retired from the court due to gout in his left hand, and devoted himself to composing and teaching. He died in Vienna on March 1, 1777. In addition to operas and oratorios, he composed many symphonies, concertos, and chamber music.
