Wakadokoro - Wakadokoro

Japanese:
Wakadokoro - Wakadokoro

A temporary post set up in the Imperial Court to compile an imperial anthology. Shokyoden was not given a different name when "Kokin Wakashu" was compiled, but in 951 (Tenryaku 5), a wakadokoro was set up in Shoyosha (Nashitsubo) and five people including Minamoto no Shitago were ordered to read the "Manyoshu" (old readings) and compile "Gosen Wakashu". It was not set up when there was only one compiler, but in 1201 (Kennin 1), it was set up in Nijodono to compile "Shin Kokin Wakashu", and later when there were multiple compilers, it was set up and people such as betto, kaiko, and yoryudo were appointed. From the mid-Kamakura period onwards, the Nijo family was officially recognized as a waka instructor family and is thought to have had a permanent waka office in the family, and when an imperial commissioner ordered it, a waka office was also established for that purpose.
