Kinjumon

…Chinese calligrapher and painter of the mid-Qing dynasty. Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. His pen name was Shoumen. His many pen names include Dongxin, Sinong, Jiliu Mountain People, and Qujiang Waishi. He studied epigraphy under the scholar He Huan, and from around the age of 30, he traveled around the country to collect rubbings of carved stones. He later visited Yangzhou frequently, and settled there in his later years. He was one of the Eight Elite Yangzhou painters. His calligraphy was based on the Han Rei style, and he painted floral miscellaneous paintings in an old-fashioned style, influencing the other Eight Elite painters. He excelled in plum blossom paintings, which he began painting at around the age of 50. His representative works include the large four-panel painting of Plum Blossoms in Ink (1636, New York, owned by Ong Wangge). …

…中国,清朝中期の書画家。浙江省杭州の人。字は寿門。号は冬心,司農,稽留(けいりゆう)山民,曲江外史など多数ある。考証学者の何焯(かしやく)に師事して金石を研究し,30歳ころより地方を行脚して刻石拓本を収集した。のちにしばしば揚州を訪れ,晩年はそこに定住した。揚州八怪の一人。書は漢隷をもとに独特な方形の書体をつくり,画もまた花卉(かき)雑画を古拙な画風で描き,八怪の他の画家に影響した。50歳ころより始めた墨梅がすぐれ,代表作に大作の《墨梅図》四幅対(1636,ニューヨーク,翁万戈氏蔵)ほかがある。…
