1638-1715 (Kan'ei 15-Shotoku 5) A haiku poet of the early Edo period. His surname was Sagara. He was commonly known as Izaemon. His first name was Satan. In his later years he wrote Fujimune. He was from Sukagawa, Oshu. He is said to have been the head of a post station. He learned haiku at Mitoku in Edo, and later joined Chowa. He became acquainted with Basho in Edo during the Enpo era (1673-81), and in 1689 (Genroku 2) he let Basho stay at his home for several days during his pilgrimage along the Oku no Hosomichi.
