Labor-Farmer Faction - Rounouha

Japanese: 労農派 - ろうのうは
Labor-Farmer Faction - Rounouha
The term refers to the group of Marxists who founded the magazine "Rono" in 1927, or a lineage of Marxism centered around it, which was opposed to the Lecture School. After the first dissolution of the Japanese Communist Party, Yamakawa Kin, Inomata Tsunao, and Arahata Kanson, who opposed the party's reconstruction plan based on the 27th Theses and left the party, published the magazine "Rono". After that, they developed a "Japanese Capitalism Debate" with the Japanese Communist Party scholars, the so-called Lecture School, over the analysis of Japanese capitalism. Their argument was that the Meiji Restoration was a bourgeois revolution, although it was incomplete in some ways, and that the revolution that was coming was a socialist revolution. In addition to the three mentioned above, other major debaters included Kushida Tamizo, Tsuchiya Takao, Ouchi Hyoe, Mukaizaka Itsuro, and Uno Kozo. Other representative works include "Problems of Japanese Capitalism" (Mukaizaka Itsuro) and "Collection of Essays on the Development History of Japanese Capitalism" (Tsuchiya Takao). The debate remained unresolved with the arrest of the Lecture School faction in July 1936, and members of the Labor-Farmer faction were also arrested en masse in December 1937 and February 1938 (the First and Second Popular Front Incidents).
