…In the Wamyōshō, Oinoryo is pronounced as Ohoinotsukasa (Oho no Mame Kasa), with Ohoi meaning Ohoihi (large rice) and rice being today's kowameshi (strong rice) steamed in a koshiki (steamed rice). Today's boiled rice is called katakayu (cooked rice), and was managed by the shusuiji. Cooking is pronounced as kashiku, and although the origin is unknown, it seems to refer to a cooking method in which a kettle is placed on top of a hearth and then a koshiki is placed on top of it to steam the food. …
