The name of the palace where Odin, the chief god of Norse mythology, lives. It is also called the House of Joy. It has 540 gates, each wide enough for 800 knights to enter side by side. The ceiling is so high that it is impossible to reach the eye, and it shines like a row of golden shields. Every day, a banquet is held here, and more food and mead than can be eaten is served. Every day, Odin cooks the great boar Sesthrumnir, who is said to revive immediately after being killed, and serves him mead that is endlessly produced by a female goat named Heidrun, who lives in the treetops of Yggdrasil, which hangs over Valhalla. However, Odin himself only drinks wine, and gives other food to two wolves at his feet. Valhalla is brought to by the battle maiden Valkyrie, and spends each day eating feasts and performing martial arts with Odin and other gods until the end of the world. Furthermore, people who die from illness or old age are not welcomed into Valhalla, but instead go to the misty underworld.
