[Birth] 1564. Nojan Rotoru Died October 27, 1627. French jurist from Paris. He was from a family of wealthy farmers who rose to become holders of high-ranking government office. He started as a low-ranking local official, served as Judge Bailly of Dunois, and then became a lawyer at the Paris High Court. He studied local customary law based on his experience living in the provinces, and wrote Traité des seigneuries (1608), Traité des offices (10), and Traité des Ordres (10), which are highly regarded as the first French social treatises.
