Cape Shirakami

Japanese: 白神岬 - しらかみみさき

A cape at the southern tip of the Matsumae Peninsula, in the southwest of the Oshima Peninsula in southwest Hokkaido. It belongs to Matsumae Town. It faces Tappizaki in Aomori Prefecture at a distance of about 20 kilometers, and the area between the two capes is the western entrance to the Tsugaru Strait. The nearby coast forms a 50-meter sea cliff, and at its tip is a lighthouse built in 1888 (Meiji 21). National Route 228 passes along the coast, and although the former Japanese National Railway Matsumae Line has been abolished, it passed through the Shirakami Tunnel. The surrounding area is part of the Matsumae Yagoshi Prefectural Natural Park.

北海道南西部、渡島(おしま)半島南西部の松前半島南端の岬。松前町に属す。青森県の龍飛(たっぴ)崎と約20キロメートルの距離で相対し、両岬間は津軽海峡の西の入口にあたる。付近の海岸は約50メートルの海食崖(がい)をなし、突端に1888年（明治21）創設の灯台がある。国道228号が海岸を通り、旧国鉄松前線は廃止されたが、白神トンネルを抜けていた。付近は松前矢越(やごし)道立自然公園の一部である。
