〘 noun 〙 (later known as "rensho") 1. The act of two or more people listing their names on a document and writing their signatures, etc. Also, the document itself. Rensho. *Shoku Nihongi - Yoro Year 1 (717), April, Jinjin "There were _two beggars, _and the three Rensho soldiers _{presented their} bowls to the public in the morning, asking for their report." *Taiheiki (late 14th century) 26 "One hundred and thirteen Rensho soldiers entered the death register thinking they would be killed in battle." [Hokushi - Gan no Suiden] 2. A job title in the Kamakura shogunate. An important position that assisted the regent in overseeing government affairs, and signed the shogunate's official documents, along with official orders and imperial letters. The regent and Rensho were collectively called the Two Regents, Two Butlers, or Two Guardians. Influential members of the Hojo clan were appointed to this position. Rensho.
