Leptosiphon (English name) Gilia micrantha Steud.ex Benth. (=Leptosiphon parviflorus Benth.)

Native to California, North America, this is an annual plant of the Polemonium family with small, cute flowers. In the horticultural world, it is known by its former genus name, Leptosiphon. It grows 10-20cm tall, branching out at the base of the plant, but the stems are thin and the leaves are also finely divided like threads, appearing to grow in whorls. Around May, it produces several small flowers, 8mm in diameter, divided into 5 lobes, at the top of the stem, but what appears to be a long stalk is actually the flower tube, which is about 2cm long. Flower colors include white, yellow, cream, orange, red, peach, and purple, and are as beautiful as jewels.

北アメリカ，カリフォルニア原産で，小型のかわいい花をつけるハナシノブ科の一年草。園芸界では旧属名のレプトシホンの名で呼ばれる。高さ10～20cm，株際で多数分岐して茂るが，茎は細く，葉もまた糸のように細かく裂けて，輪生しているように見える。5月ごろ，茎頂に5裂した径8mmの小花を数輪つけるが，長い花梗のように見えるのは花筒部で，長さ約2cmになる。花色には白，黄，クリーム，オレンジ，紅，桃，紫などがあり，宝石をちりばめたように美しい。
