[Born] 1524? San Severino
[Died] August 1574. Fossombrone Italian physician and anatomist. He was also a professor of anatomy at the University of Rome and physician to the Pope. He was one of the founders of modern anatomy, and accurately described many parts of the body, including the Eustachian tube and the valves of the heart. In 1552, he completed the world's first copperplate anatomical atlas, which is noted for its beautiful depiction of the sympathetic nervous system. It was published in 1714 and translated into Japanese by Sugita Bairi at the end of the Edo period.

イタリアの医師，解剖学者。ローマ大学の解剖学教授，ローマ教皇の侍医でもあった。近代解剖学の創始者の一人で，耳管や心臓の弁など，数多くの部位を正確に記載した。 1552年に世界最初の銅版解剖図を完成。これは交感神経系をみごとに描いていることで注目されている。 1714年に出版され，日本でも幕末に杉田梅里によって翻訳された。
