A raincoat. Lightweight, tightly woven cotton, wool, silk, synthetic fabrics, etc., waterproofed with silicone, metal soap, rubber, paraffin, etc., or vinyl are used. In primitive times, waterproofing was achieved by sewing together animal intestines or weaving shiny, waterproof leaves into nets or grass. In 1823, Scottish chemist Charles Macintosh (1776-1843) patented a waterproof cloth coated with India rubber (the initial product was unpopular), and after various raincoats were made with this cloth, the name Macintosh became synonymous with raincoats. In the 1830s, Thomas Burberry made men's raincoats from waterproof cloth, and even today "Burberry" refers to a certain type of raincoat. Since the 20th century, raincoats have changed from being suitable for rainy weather to being suitable for all weather conditions, and are used as duster coats and combined coats.
