Haba - Haba

Japanese: 端場 - はば
Haba - Haba
〘Noun〙① In Joruri, this is the opening part of each act's kiriba . It is usually narrated by a lower-ranking tayu, but there is a unique way of telling the tale, and it plays an important role in highlighting the kiriba. ※Miscellaneous Hai and Senryu Hyō Manku-Awa, 1762, Man'ichi "Tenmon no Keiko wa Haba ni Hirune wo" ② In Kabuki, this is a less important scene in a full-length kyogen. ※Kakuhon Kyakusha Hyōban-ki (1811), "Discrimination between Yakuba and Hashiba"
